"I'm from Vermont, I do what I want"

I'm a sober bartender who is extremely competitive. but honestly my ultimate goal is to spread hope and inspiration to others

  • Running is my meditation.

  • The universe is my higher power.

  • Fitness is my fix.

It. Keeps. Me. Sane.

We do not have control of anything but our own mind. This is such a challenge to accept. But it is the truth! Getting to know my own mind and what I'm capable of has been such a rad and rewarding experience.

If you or someone you know has questions about what steps it takes to achieve sobriety text or call me. 707.536.6413

"Don't think about what can happen in a month. Don't think about what can happen in a year. Just focus on the 24 hours in front of you and do what you can to get closer to where you want to be." -Eric Thomas

Sonoma County born and raised and a type 1 diabetic for the last 18 years.  Bicycling, trail running, kayaking, climbing, and hiking are all activities that I enjoy.  As someone with diabetes, I try to do some kind of exercise everyday; even if it’s just a walk.  Exercise is one of the best ways to help me stay in control of my condition.  Getting to live in Sonoma County offers so many chances to get outside and be kind to your body while also connecting with some like minded people.

Rest days are important to me too. I believe it’s good to push yourself physically, but it’s equally important that we listen to our bodies when we need a break.

"I found a love for running after joining the Sebastobeasts! Running with other like minded individuals, and having the reliability, motivation, and support has greatly influenced my running skills and overall happiness in life. I enjoy each and every one of the Sebasobeasts, and look forward to gaining more running friends in the future!

Kyle

Hello! My name is Kyle Hoyt, and I was born and raised in Sonoma County. One of my biggest Passions and Hobbies is fitness and exercise. I strive to live a long and Healthy life, and nothing ignites that feeling in me quite like trail running. My goal as a Sebastobeast is top inspire and motivate others to experience the joy, adventure and euphoria of trail running. My favorite trail is Ragle park, in our Hometown of Sebastopol. Ragle is just a short walk from my house and is accessible to people of any level of fitness. Ragle also has a variety of workout stations, allowing you a full body workout without need for a home gym or gym membership. Ragle gets a little muddy in the winter, But I always say “You’re never too old to play in the mud!”

For me, the ability to push past the limits of a mental state, to run solely on the body’s inherent power is to reach a state of mind of sublimeness. As the thoughts of anxiety waste away while your focus is centered around getting one step further, this is truly the magic of mental serenity. I use running or running uses me to push past the insecurities, to push past the thoughts of stopping, to reach lengths never imagined before. I play this game constantly in my mind of if you reach this point you can take a break, but when I reach that goal it leaves me pushing for more. This state of consciousness has pushed me running farther than I ever intentionally set out to. This is the state in which I hope to share with those who are just venturing into running, because this state of mind is possible for everyone. Along with running, I also enjoy lifting heavy things, hiking, roller skating, picking up trash on our streets/trails and leaving our spaces better than before. This connection of mind is not only within us, but it surrounds us with every breath of fresh air, springs blossoms and rain falling on our faces. I am an herbalist that believes that everything is at our fingertips, whether that is physical health or harmony of our mental state. We are not just beings, we are beasts thriving off the land which gives us the ground and ability to surpass the anxieties of the world. We feel at one with the land and all those who came before us (Southern Pomo and Coast Miwok land). We can not benefit without the relationship in which we seek happiness, we seek to surpass physical boundaries and leave knowing we did our part in making our planet a better place mentally and the grounds in which we use to reach this state of sublime.

Never limit yourself, you are capable of anything you set your mind to.

I have experienced no Mastery beyond self mastery, No control beyond self control, and no better way to strengthen those muscles than by pushing oneself to do what is hard, maybe even what seems impossible. By pushing past the point at which you feel you will inevitably fail you begin to trust a part of yourself that perhaps you did not know before, a part of you deep inside that knows, for a fact, that you are strong. Life is a harrowing and dangerous affair, and each of us must walk a path that leads down roads we cannot foresee. You must tread boldly into that darkened night, strive with strength and vigor to carry yourself beyond that next step. Build alliances with those that walk beside you and join forces to overcome whatever obstacles may lay in your collective path. Join me, join us as we stride, climb, race and run forward into that uncertain future, and make it our own. Discover the nature of the Beast.
